A click torque wrench is a manual wrench with an adjustable torque setting. You dial in the target ft-lbs or Nm on the handle, then tighten the fastener. When it reaches the set torque, the wrench clicks and the handle gives slightly. That click is your signal to stop. Accuracy is typically plus or minus 3 to 5% of the set value. Common ranges are 10 to 80 ft-lbs (1/4-inch drive), 20 to 150 ft-lbs (3/8-inch drive), and 30 to 250 ft-lbs (1/2-inch drive). Always store a click wrench at its lowest setting to preserve the spring calibration.

Why It Matters

Cylinder heads, wheel lugs, and structural bolts all have specific torque specs. Too loose and the joint fails. Too tight and you strip threads or snap the bolt. A click wrench takes the guesswork out and gives you repeatable, spec-compliant results.
