Frequently Asked Questions

Is Irwin a good brand for levels?

For the price, the torpedo levels are excellent. The 48" box beam is functional but you can feel the quality difference compared to Stabila or Empire. At $35, it's fine for occasional use. Don't expect 10-year accuracy retention.

Why does the torpedo have four vials instead of three?

The fourth vial reads 45 degrees, which is the standard pitch for drain pipe (1/4" per foot). Plumbers use it to check drain slope without calculating. If you don't run drain pipe, the fourth vial is just a bonus.
