Electric Brake

Without it, a circular saw blade coasts for 5 to 10 seconds, a grinder disc spins down over 10 to 15 seconds, and a miter saw blade takes even longer. The brake works by reversing the current flow briefly, creating a magnetic field that opposes the rotation. It doesn't use friction pads. Brushless tools implement this electronically through the motor controller. Some brushed tools have it too, but it's less common.
Why It Matters
A coasting blade or disc is still dangerous. You can't set the tool down safely until it stops. On a circular saw, the exposed blade under the guard keeps spinning. An electric brake gets you back to safe in under 2 seconds instead of waiting 10. It's not a luxury feature. It's safety.
