Makita makes two cordless impact wrenches on the 18V LXT platform. The XWT08Z is the workhorse with 740 ft-lbs of fastening torque. The compact XWT15Z trades some power for a shorter nose, which helps in tight engine bays and between studs.
Makita 18V LXT Platform
Both run on any 18V LXT battery. The XWT08Z draws more current and works best with 5.0Ah or larger packs. The compact XWT15Z runs fine on 3.0Ah batteries.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Makita XWT08Z remove lug nuts?
Yes. 1,180 ft-lbs of nut-busting torque handles most lug nuts, including over-torqued ones from tire shops. Use a 6-point impact socket, not a chrome socket.
Is the compact XWT15Z strong enough for automotive work?
For brake calipers, exhaust clamps, and small suspension bolts, yes. For rusted lug nuts or axle bolts, you want the full-size XWT08Z.
