Why is Franklin Sensors better than Zircon?
Zircon uses a single sensor that detects stud edges. You have to make two passes to find both edges, then calculate the center. Franklin uses 13 sensors that light up the full stud width in one pass. Faster, easier, and fewer false positives.
Do stud finders work through plaster and lath?
Poorly. Plaster walls with wood lath give false positives because the lath is wood too. For plaster walls, use a rare-earth magnet to find the nail or screw heads in the lath, which indicates stud locations. No electronic stud finder handles plaster walls reliably.
