DeWalt makes 1/2-inch and 3/8-inch impact wrenches on the 20V MAX platform. The DCF899 is the heavy hitter for automotive and construction. The DCF890 handles lighter-duty work at a lower price.

DeWalt 20V MAX Platform

Standard 20V MAX batteries work fine for occasional use. For sustained heavy-duty work, use 4.0Ah or 5.0Ah packs.

Frequently Asked Questions

1/2-inch or 3/8-inch drive?

1/2-inch for lug nuts, large bolts, and construction work. 3/8-inch for automotive tasks under the hood. If you only buy one, the 1/2-inch is more versatile.

Can the DCF899 remove lug nuts?

Yes. 700 ft-lbs handles virtually all passenger vehicle lug nuts. Heavy trucks and overtorqued lugs might need a breaker bar first, but for normal automotive work it's plenty.
